No Trade Fair in 2018

It is with great sadness that we wish to inform all our supporters that the Zululand Trade Fair will be cancelled for 2018. We have not been able to secure the much needed sponsorship towards making this event happen.

We received zero sponsorship support last year from any of our local councils, and only a little support from the RBIDZ, Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre and had all our signage sponsored by Sign Force - thank you.

Despite the lack of sponsorship to make this event possible, we have taken the opportunity every year to keep to our core values of promoting local business, education, tourism and fostering social cohesion within our community. We kept the gate price exactly the same and introduced a family and/or weekend rate too. The stand prices were also very low especially for a three day event that bought thousands of visitors in to view your wares. The Zululand Trade Fair was a wonderful event to shop at, watch some amazing acts, be entertained, learn a little and eat delicious food while socializing with friends and family. Local IS lekker! We have brought national acts to you such as KO, Heinz Winkler , First Project, The Muses, Nasty C, Luxmi Stars, Acid Mill, Richard Stirton, Babes Wodumo, Qadasi, Thokozane Langa , Afrofusion and many others. We have hosted Miss Zululand 4 times, Chef of the Year, Zululand's Got Talent, MMA Champs, Hot Rods, drifting cars, spinners, FMX, stunt bikes and noise free fireworks. We introduced 'Edufun Day' giving all local schools the opportunity to attend the show at a reduced rate, learn from the Unizul Science centre and about reptiles and wildlife from the Pure Venom stand. Many pupils also enjoyed some fun fair rides for the first time in their lives.

We have supported various charities as well such as SPCA, Amangwe Village, iKhaya Lika Baba, Thuthukani Special School, Gifts of the Givers Foundation and some other fundraising entities to use the platform to create awareness of their needs and to also treat some of the children to a special outing even. We have had 170 plus exhibitors come back to the show, promoted our city, filled up the hotels and had thousands of visitors flock to Richards Bay.

Despite all of the above we have failed to gain support from our local industry or from local councils. We have pleaded for support, written numerous letters and had these personally delivered. This is indeed a sad loss for our city and Economic Development. This was an event for our community, by our community. This was an event that firmly placed our City on the map (just as the Rand Easter Show and Royal Show and Durban July are to other cities).

We have had a blast! We are sad but we thank every single one of you who has supported us and your City in the past. We are hopeful that our local councils and industry will feel the loss and we can be back for 2019.

Zululand Trade Fair will return in 2019
